STCAtlanta09

This is a machine used to buy tickets for the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) which is the Atlanta train system. The Breeze cards are paper or plastic and can be refilled with rides.

Here is a MARTA train waiting at a station. MARTA trains travel both above and below the ground. They are modern, reasonably quiet, and clean.

A map in each train car is provided for navigating the MARTA system.

Downtown Atlanta on Peachtree street.

Most stores and restaurants close at about 6:00PM when office workers take their commute home. However, some excellent Atlanta restaurants stay open late.

This picture was taken near the Hyatt-Regency on Peachtree street. Peachtree is a very long street that runs all the way to midtown Atlanta.

This is the front entrance of the Hyatt-Regency the hotel where we stayed to attend the STC yearly Summit.

The atrium of the Hyatt hosts several places to eat.

Recognition awards were posted for some STC folks.

STC president Mark Clifford (2008-2009) opened the conference.

David Pogue gave the keynote speech on the power of simplicity. David writes a column for the New York Times and has written many books.

The downtown Atlanta skyline.

I visited the Atlanta aquarium.

The Atlanta Centennial Olympic Park.

The CNN headquarters building.

Outside the CNN building on Marietta street.

Inside the CNN building.

On the ground level of the CNN building there are a few stores and a large food court. I ate there several times.

A live broadcast you can see on the ground floor even without taking the CNN tour.

I took the CNN tour. It starts by going up eight floors on an escalator and then slowly goes down with a CNN guide explaining how the news is broadcast.

CNN owns the entire building which includes a TV broadcast center, many offices, and part of a hotel.

CNN, the Coca Cola museum, the Olympic Park, and the aquarium are all located within a ten minute walk of each other.
Here is the front of the Coca Cola museum. The museum shows a 3-D film called the "Happiness Factory" and has several exhibitions showing the history and iconic nature of Coca Cola.

Inside the Coca Cola museum. On the second floor you can drink as much Coca Cola as you want. :-)
